    MUSIC.

Have you listened to K'Naan yet? You have some happy ears if you have. If you haven't, your ears and mind will be opened to a plentitude of sounds. Wow. I read about him awhile back and listened to a few songs. His album, Troubadour is incredible. Part of my extra excitement could be the timing but that does NOT take away from the appreciation and enthusiasm I have for this good music. I mentioned timing because, although some still won't admit, we've have quite a lack of balance.

There has been an overwhelming amount of crappy music that many hip hop heads have veered off into other genres. Yes, many hip hop heads have always listened to other genres but in our state of music, it has opened our "chi" to a more feng shui approach in our selection. I kind of like that we've had so much wackness out so that the real musicians can finally be appreciated even more than before.

Now, don't make assumptions and think that I'm being a music snob but, admit it, you've thought to yourself on more than one occasion, "WTH! HOW? WHY? Is this really being played? Got a record deal?" I'm just saying. I like some fun songs that really won't be played five years from now, but I know how to balance my musical chi. After all, we are all ignorant to a certain degree. So, we may have a few songs that we don't even know why we like. Nothing wrong with that, but, if you only like that, you need some help. Look at the greats and look at what you're listening to.

I've had to compromise my musical integrity a lot, whether it was through radio or clubs, but, on the same note, I was blessed with great music that I would have never heard. You learn many things through compromise and you should take those lessons with you, in order to make whatever you really want to do ...BETTER.

So, I'm saying...GET THAT K'NAAN album. You don't wanna miss out. What am I listening to now? Hmm...a few of them are... K'Naan, Empire of the Sun (their video is below), Samba, Bossa Nova, Michael, Kid Cudi, and, of course, the upcoming Outkast remix album by the Drop Squad & myself. =>

    MICHAEL MEMORIAL

Today, I decided to pay my respects to Michael Jackson by going to the Staples Center early. That is where the official memorial will be but I know it will be chaotic from Sunday through Tuesday. There was a short line - waited about 30-40 minutes. That sun was BEATIN' down my back...oh, but it was worth it! :)

SOMETIMES I PRETEND I'M MICHAEL JACKSON

If you're into poetry, whether you just enjoy it or like to perform it also, you may have visited or been a regular at The Poetry Lounge in LA. You may have been blessed to see this poem performed on Broadway awhile ago. Spoken word phenom, Poetri hosted that spot forever and he has his own Sundays. He used to do this poem once in awhile and decided to bring it back for you via Youtube. Love it!

    MICHAEL JACKSON VIDEO TRIBUTE

My boy, VJ Showtime took his time to create a video tribute to MJ. Very thoughtful. Check it out! Michael Jackson Tribute Music Video Mix
